every child has the gift of providing innocent insight as he discovers the world around him. i think it's a gift from God - so that parents don't go clinically insane with the stresses of raising a kid. after four years of being amazed -and at times perplexed- by my son Nile's journey through childhood, it's time to write it all down. although i tell myself it would be impossible to forget, i know some day i will cherish being able to read this. and i will still be shaking my head.

welcome to the real world, kid.
Nile discovered one of the great mysteries and annoyances of life tonight...when you find the toilet paper roll is empty - and it's too late. Needless to say, Aaron and I got a good talking to. "Use a tissue instead? What you MEAN, use a tissue? That's not right!" We were forced to promise it will never happen again.
